I found out today what I was wirth.. Third race of my cross career and am having a blast. With 103 lined up for the C race I figured on some carnage. Lined up with MikeC, FPA and Kurt and got a clean start, couldn’t hold the pace Mike was putting on me. I was getting words of encouragement (go Mike) from Kurt every time we went thru the turnaround (remembering names due to the size of the team this year is a bitch but funny) . Thanks to Jess (Mikes wife) for the hand ups. Much apreciated

What an awesome course. There was hardly anywhere to recover, and no matter what your strength or weakness, the setup had something for ya. I got a pretty good start and spent the whole race rockin it with Guy. He hit the deck coming to the bell lap otherwise we would have had a good drag race to the line I think. The crowd was great, especially my wife, who makes me laugh everytime I go by her.
I was gonna try to take it a little easy this weekend, not worry about where I finished, and just put in a good training effort. I’ve been sick as a dog all week and almost didn’t show. I realized today that I just can’t do that. When they say “go” I wanna race. I want to catch the guys up ahead and make the guys behind me work their asses off to stay with me. It’s like this I guess, I have good days and I have bad days, but I always leave it all out there when I’m done. Maybe it’s cause I love ripping it up on the grass and dirt. I know I don’t always put it all on the line in a road race or a crit. Now I’m just rambling. Bottom line is I dig cross. Great seeing all the Crossniacs today.

Great job this past weekend to the MN crew. Strong showing in the 35+ A race on Saturday and Sunday. Geat conditions and course on Saturday, but the legs didn’t show up. I felt better on Sunday, but I think everyone was moving slower, not me moving faster. Hey, a few photos fom Sunday made it into the Hudson newspaper.

Cross crusade blasts off!
The weatherman certainly called it wrong, but the racing prevailed. The C 35+ field had 150 starters as did a few other categories. The course at Alpenrose Dairy was basically the same as the last couple of years except for the amount of racers. A section of off-camber wet clay felled a number of riders early on, but most everybody recovered and finished. I finished a little better than mid-pack, which for me was a good improvement over last year. What a difference a year makes. Anyway the new kits are sweet and really stand out! Totals for the day: 1267 riders!! Another record indeed! jesse
Weekend Races
The 2 races this weekend were both fun as hell. Great courses and pretty decent weather. I thought the motocross or bmx (which was it?) park was an awesome part of the course on Sat and the run on the beach was evil on Sun. I’m having to much fun on the cross rig this year. The team is awesome, the weather has been great, and the courses have all been pretty crossy.
A few things that come to mind about this past weekend. Pmax, that’s just good stuff with Alex dude. The not so good, my little bro was rockin a cross race down in N.C. Sun and got caught up in a pile up at the start of the race. He got up and finished the race and on the drive home his wrist started swelling up. It ended up being fractured, but he’s a Faulkner so I’m sure he spent most of today perfecting one-handed cross skillz.

Crossin in Corcoran
Another gorgeous Saturday for racing. The course was way fun. The piece through the motocross course from the weekend prior was a gas! Taylor, Kurt, Erik and I lined up for the Cat 4 race. We went off hard, and there was a pile up in the first corner. Taylor, Erik and I made it through unscathed and ended up riding pretty much together for the whole race. Taylor and Erik duked it out for a couple of laps with Taylor eventually pulling ahead. I chased them both the whole time, and finally caught Erik and passed him on the last climb of the last lap. He cheered me on as I passed with a cheerful “you fu*ker”. As we rounded the next corner, he came charging back past me and I volleyed the F- bomb back at him and the drag race was on. We charged hard to the line, and Erik dominated the sprint. Fu*cker.
