Dinner with a legend

pagewah.JPG

Most people idolize rock stars, professional football, basketball, baseball players, etc.

For those who live for cyclocross – fellow crossniacs, our hero is Jonathan Page. In our opinion, one of the best cyclocross racers in the world that has made the true commitment to racing cross and spends most of the cross season in Belgium, because that is where cyclocross is raced for “real”. Even though he and family admit that they are not all that fond of living in gray, rainy Belgium, that is where they need to be to be committed to cyclocross at the world’s level.

We had a great dinner prepared by the best chef in town, MikeyP at the Craftsman and talked about life in Belgium, raising a family and being a bike racer, the Natz scuffle, and US vs. European racing. Jonathan, Cori and the 2 kids are so down-to-earth and genuinely friendly that it was just like being with old friends, even though most of us crossniacs were in awe of his presence.

It was a great way to end the cross season. Going to Nationals and then having dinner with Page and family is going to be hard to top for 2009.

Thanks Jonathan, Cori and family for taking the time out of your busy schedule and good luck for the rest of the season. The crossniacs will be cheering you on.

We had a lot of fun!!! It was nice to go out to dinner with such a great group of people! The food was amazing too! We’ve made some new friends and the Craftsman has earned itself several new customers! Thank you to all the Crossniacs and Co that made for a fun evening!
