One Gear, One focus

With the focus on ‘cross, my training has been simplified by training without a derailleur.  I have set my 29er mtn bike up with some 34c Conti Speed Kings and a 32×14 gearing.  I am debating on whether switch to drop bars on this bike but for now I run a flat bar.  For those days of training on the pavement, you can usually find me on my fixed geared pushing a 40×16.

Riding with only one cog forces me to stay on top of my gear which means attacking hills, spinning the flats, and powering out of transitions.  The A-bike is slowly being put back together and will be ready for the first race in Breck.
