Tex-Mex Report – WurstCross-O-Ween

Timed to coincide with the annual festival of sausage, Wurst Fest, in New Braunfels, WurstCross-O-Ween featured a nice combo of twisty, technical sections linked with some longish grass climbs and pavement sections. Each lap passed by the pavilion where they were grilling up the race wurst (brutal), through a barrier section, back uphill over a rock wall (pic), through some gravel and into a twisty tree slalom along the Guadalupe River.

I got a great start and just missed someone rolling a tubular in the first turn. Rolled pretty good through the first lap then a train passed me (“Oh, were hammering this section?”). Felt good but the loose 180’s kept eating my lunch. Need to work on my handling and racing. Managed to recover a few spots to finish f-bop. My efforts were rewarded with a sausage wrap and a cold one. Some great photos by JBuntz here and others here. Two-fer in Fort Worth next weekend.

    well yee-haa,
nice to hear from our syndicate south-of-the-bible-belt. (that sounded funnier in my head).

If you see the original tx crossniac, Bryan Pope, give him a hardy slap.

used to live in Austin. Worked at the blind school and at the fancy food-store.

I’m fixin’ to come back one of these days and get some sun.

I keep looking for him, but we’ve yet to meet.

You should come down for the State Champs weekend 1/16-17, 2010. Should be a good time and hopefully some nice weather.
